I was thinking about the nature of what my company, Brand Agent, is. And when I look at the web site, and the content I put up there, it ticks all the normal digital marketing boxes, and yes, we definitely do all of that.
But something way more valuable is on offer here, something that is immeasurable.
Your time.
My time is sold to you as a package – you get my time, knowledge, understanding of marketing concepts, my creativity and ideas, my research, experience, talent and more. When I apply myself to your business, this is what you pay for.
But more than that, I, as a professional at doing these things, give back to you yourtime.
Think about that.
How long does it take you to do even just the basics. Look for or create content, and the graphics required to make it look good. What about a landing page or call to action? Let alone responding to comments, messages quickly.
Are you taking advantage of all the new technology available in social media and digital advertising? If so, or if you are trying, how long is it taking you to figure out how it works, create professional looking content for it, and monitor the performance of it once it’s active?
So here’s another question – what is your actual job? Is it selling something? Or are you the owner of your company? How does trying to do your own social media or digital advertising detract from your core function?
At your hourly rate, how much money are you wasting doing work that isn’t what you are there to do.
You should be out there selling, canvassing, doing deals, or strategically planning the current and future situations of your business.
A popular Richard Branson quote goes like this:
It’s all about finding and hiring people smarter than you. Getting them to join your business. And giving them good work. Then getting out of their way. And trusting them. You have to get out of the way so YOU can focus on the bigger vision.
